Ford has priced the newly redesigned 2011 Lincoln MKX at $39,145. The MKX, which is a sibling of the Ford Edge, sees its price increase $300 compared with its predecessor. There's also an $850 destination fee to keep in mind.
The MKX is available in only one trim, but with various and rather expensive option packages. The MKX is equipped with a 305-horespower, 3.7-liter V-6 mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is available for $1,850.
A standard MKX comes with all the premium features you'd expect in a luxury crossover: 18-inch aluminum wheels, automatic headlamps, reverse-sensing sonar, power liftgate, leather upholstery and a 10-speaker audio system. You also get MyLincoln Touch, which includes Sync, an 8-inch touch-screen and two LCD monitors in the gauge cluster.
Three packages are available on the MKX. The Premium Package gets you adaptive headlamps, ambient lighting, heated rear seats and steering wheel, backup camera and power tilt/telescoping steering wheel for $2,500.
The Elite Package gets you the above features and a voice-activated navigation system, blind spot detection, 14-speaker THX surround sound audio system, panoramic sunroof and 20-inch wheels for $7,500. The Limited Edition Package adds superficial enhancements such as 20-inch wheels, unique brown leather seats, aluminum trim and Lincoln's logo etched into the headlamps. On the base trim, the Limited Edition costs $1,250, but with the Elite Package already selected, it's only a $300 option.
Standalone options include real wood trim ($495), adaptive cruise control and collision warning system ($1,295) and a trailer towing hitch ($395) that allows the MKX to tow up to 3,500 lbs.
The Lincoln MKX tops out at $52,675, which means the Lincoln has a 15 percent pricing premium over a comparably optioned Ford Edge.
